Christian Science Nursing Facilities in BC

Wayside House

Due to the current Health and Safety Requirements because of the Covid-19 virus, Wayside House has been “locked down” since March 13th.

Reservations from Spiritual Renewal guests, and new patient applications, will not be accepted at this time in order to protect our residents.

We look forward to being “open” to all our supporters when circumstances change.

We appreciate all your loving prayers and support at this time.

Management Team

The primary mission of Wayside House is to provide skilled Christian Science nursing care in an atmosphere of peace, joy and expectancy of healing. As well as offering a spiritual atmosphere for physical healing, Wayside House invites you to take some time and experience the mental benefits of Spiritual Renewal. Busy schedules and the demands of every day life can sometimes erode the natural sense of unity with God. Come and benefit from a quiet, spiritual environment and connect with the sustaining influence of “the things of the Spirit.” Take the opportunity to rediscover your divine nature as God’s child. A Wayside experience is an opportunity for prayer, rejuvenation, and refreshment.

In following the directions of Article VIII, Section 31 of the Manual of The Mother Church, the Christian Science Visiting Nurse provides the skills and healing atmosphere which allows those physically challenged to remain in their homes. The Christian Science Nurse is the vital, pivotal presence of the Christ in action, right on the ‘firing line’ of relatives and neighbors and all they imagine Christian Science to be — or not.

Goal of the Vancouver Christian Science Nursing Service (VCSNS)

The overall goal of the VCSNS is to help ‘grow’ Christian Science nursing in British Columbia and beyond. It does this by providing fledgling Christian Science Nurses with a monthly retainer and financial assistance for training, as well as reimbursement for travel and other expenses. This financial support enables the Christian Science Nurse to ‘grow’ their practice until such time as they are well established and, perhaps, even become listed in The Christian Science Journal. Our very cheery and much loved Christian Science Nurse, Allyson Shone, recently became Journal listed and has now reached this stage of her career.

To this end, the VCSNS would be happy to hear from any individual who has received Christian Science nursing training and is willing to make the commitment to work towards becoming a fulltime community Christian Science Nurse.

Funding for Christian Science Nurse Training now available from Trust Canada In addition to the financial assistance provided by VCSNS for training, Trust Canada also provides assistance for Christian Science Nurse training and travel expenditures and will reimburse up to 75% of total costs. Requests for financial assistance for Christian Science Nurse training should be forwarded to

Trust Canada at P.O. Box 234,
7101C 120th Street, Delta, BC V4E 2A9

Does the VCSNS provide nursing equipment?

We have a small selection of nursing equipment that we are happy to lend including a wheelchair, walkers, canes, etc. If additional equipment needs to be rented, you may apply for financial assistance as long as you are utilizing the services of a Christian Science Nurse or practitioner.

In 2011 the Christian Science National Benevolence Fund (CSNBF) was established to assist individuals across Canada, who are relying on Christian Science for healing, with Christian Science nursing and practitioner costs. The goal of the CSNBF is to remove concerns for expenses (practitioner fees and Christian Science nursing, both private and at a facility) that may dissuade the individual from relying solely on Christian Science.

Requests for benevolence should be forwarded to CSNBF at
